A fundraiser at the Montessori School of Duluth hopes to get each student their own school supplies this year. COVID-19 has brought on plenty of concerns, from both parents and staff at the school. So this year, they are trying to limit contact between the students, by limiting how much sharing is done. Each student will have their own supplies; everything from notebooks to pencils, from art supplies to science experiments.
"We're doing basically anything that you can think of, that you sometimes share, is no longer sharing," says Maggie Campbell, a teacher at the Montessori School of Duluth. "Every kid is going to get their own everything."
But those supplies aren't cheap. So that's where this fundraiser comes in. It's garage sale style, with plenty of good stuff to take home to your own families!
Thursday marked day one, but the sale continues this weekend. It's happening at the school itself. Anyone can stop by from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, or from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. All proceeds will help get the school year on the right foot, and one step closer to keeping kids safe this fall.
