Iron County Sheriff's Office Reports Fatal Snowmobile Crash

A snowmobile crash in Mercer claimed the life of a 40-year-old man from Illinois Sunday.

The Iron County Sheriff's Office said that they received a 911 call reporting the snowmobile crash on Trail 10 in the town of Mercer at approximately 12:50am.

Authorities were told that the snowmobile had gone off the trail and struck a tree, leaving the driver unresponsive.

When emergency personnel arrived on the scene, life saving measures were attempted, but unfortunately, the driver died at the scene.

The name of the driver has not been released yet.

The Iron County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
