Authorities say a 44-year-old man drowned on Lake Namakagon Saturday evening.

The Bayfield County Sheriff's Office reports that the man jumped off a pontoon into the lake to go swimming just after 7:00pm and did not resurface.

An initial search was conducted by private boats in the area.

Boats from the Bayfield County Sheriff's Office, Wisconsin DNR and Namakagon Fire Department and Sawyer County Dive Team also responded.

The sheriff's office say initial searches were unsuccessful, however, the Dive Team located the deceased male at 10:10pm.
