A new pop-up restaurant called Hot Box is coming to the Zeitgeist next week.

The pop-up restaurant was created by Duluth native, Rob Abrahamson, who has been dreaming up recipes for Northern comfort foods and cuisines since he was young.

“I've been thinking about it forever. I've been cooking around the Twin Ports for the last 15 years,” Abrahamson said.

After being laid off as a result of the pandemic, Abrahamson made the leap of faith to open his pop-up restaurant.

“It worked out and it's honestly a blessing,” Abrahamson said.

Some of the items on Abrahamson’s menu will include a Swedish meatball sub and a Flaming Hot Cheetos mac and cheese.

According to Abrahamson, all meals on the menu come in what he calls a 'hot box,' hence, the name of the pop-up restaurant.

“Our idea is adult happy meals,” Abrahamson said. “So, all your food will come in the same shaped box with the tower and the handles and everything and we’re going to have some prizes in them,” Abrahamson said.

Hot Box will be open this coming Wednesday, January 27th and Saturday, January 30th from 2:00-8:00pm for those who would like to try it out.
