Authorities say the missing Golden Oaks resident that police were searching for has been located and is safe.

Hermantown Police were searching for an 80-year-old man, who went missing from Golden Oaks Retirement & Assisted Living Facility early Monday morning.

Police said Golden Oaks staff reported Greg, whose last name is not listed, went missing shortly after 2:00 Monday morning. He was last seen walking south on Reinke Road. At the time police said Greg is independent and often goes for walks down the road and also in the woods.

The assisted living facility Greg resides in released a statement earlier saying they were participating fully in the search for Greg.

"The safety and well-being of residents is of highest priority to the management and staff of Golden Oaks. We deeply appreciate the swift action of the staff who followed emergency procedures, as well as the prompt response of police officers and are hoping for a positive outcome for the resident and our senior community," said Luke Eastep, the Golden Oaks Campus Administrator. "It is our practice to examine unexpected incidents fully so we can better learn how to identify, eliminate and avoid any similar risks. We are currently reviewing the security and monitoring systems in order to maintain the safest environment possible for all its residents."

The Hermantown Police Department, along with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office, St. Louis County Rescue Squad, Proctor Police Department, Lake Superior CART Team, and other partner organizations were part of the search for Greg.
