The city of Duluth is actively recruiting for individuals that are interested in starting the year training for a new career.

The city, in partnership with SOAR Career Solutions, Lake Superior College and Duluth Public Schools Adult Education, is fully funding training for eligible applicants in three in-demand skill sets; IT support specialist, certified nursing assistant, and commercial truck driver.

"I think that now is just a really good time to think about the future and take steps towards a career that's going to pay good wages and offer benefits and stability over time,”  said Elena Foshay, the director of workforce development for the city of Duluth.

Foshay said the programs are designed with hiring in mind and that they are in contact with local businesses to try and help place people once their training is complete.
