Duluth Fire crews successfully extinguished a porta-potty fire in Enger Park Thursday evening.

Reports from bystanders came in around 7:30, and firefighters were able to get up to the park quickly. Upon arrival, large flames had engulfed a bank of four porta-potties at the edge of the parking lot. A large, black plume of smoke could be seen for miles.

We spoke with City officials, who say it's obvious that the portable bathrooms didn't catch fire on their own.

All four units were destroyed. Nearby vegetation and some trees were also impacted, but no permanent structures were damaged.
