The Duluth Superior Area Community Foundation announced they are increasing non-profit support in 2022.

“We’ll increase from about 2.7 million [from last year] to about 3.7 or even 4 million dollars,” explained CEO Shaun Floerke. “So, we’re putting more money onto the streets than we ever have.”

Floerke said the Foundation  usually gives out around 700 grants and $800,000 dollars worth of scholarships each year.

One of the grant recipients this year is the Duluth WYCA.

I think this grant is great,” said Loni Leppioja the YWCA Duluth Director of Early Childhood. “It’s bringing a lot of much needed funding to both our early childhood program and our young mothers program, so that we can help the children and the families that we serve here who need it.”

Leppioja went on to say that the money will be put towards different classes and services along with other needs that may arise.

She also said that all the help the organization can get is appreciated and that more information can be found here.
