Duluth Police investigating possible connection between Saturday shootings

Duluth Police are investigating whether two Saturday evening shootings are related.

The first was shortly after 7:00 Saturday night in Duluth's hillside neighborhood, where a man was shot and is recovering in the hospital.

The second was around 11:00 Saturday night near Raleigh Street and 56th Avenue West in West Duluth.

"Multiple shots were fired at a vehicle occupied by two people who both narrowly escaped significant injury," Duluth Police Chief Mike Tusken wrote in a Facebook post.

Tusken says these incidents cap off a week where police recovered four guns during four separate gun incidents.

"The incidents last evening demonstrate once again that we have guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them and who are willing to use guns without regard for the sanctity of life or concern for community safety," Tusken wrote in the post. "We want to hold those accountable for the gun violence in our community last night and we do not have people in custody at this time for either incident," he added.

If anyone has any information about either incident, they are asked to call the Violent Crimes Unit at 218-730-5050.
