Do you have a favorite Duluth park? The City would like to hear your opinions about the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of our parks.
"This is a system-wide parks and recreation master plan. So it's essential spaces, parks, recreation, open spaces, and trails, or PROST is the letter acronym."
The City of Duluth's Parks &Recreation Division is asking for the public's help in the next phase of planning for the Essential Spaces: Duluth Parks, Recreation, Open Space & Trails Plan.
Essential Spaces will serve as a long-range master plan that will guide decision-making for Duluth's park system. The City is asking for public participation to better understand how parks, recreation, open space, and trails in Duluth should be preserved, developed, improved, and enjoyed over the next 10 years.
"The last master plan was conducted in 2010, and it really set the groundwork for how we serviced Duluth through its park system for about the past decade," explained Jessica Peterson, the manger for the Parks and Recreation Department. "Every few years, it is good to revisit those master plans. And we were simply at a time where the park system had evolved, trends had changed, and we needed to update that master plan."
Survey responses are confidential and no personal identifying information will be shared. And at the end of the survey, participants will have the option to enter a drawing for one of 20 gift cards valued at $20 each.
The community survey will be open through November 9 for input.
