Drivers are expected to encounter temporary closures and detours while crews conduct routine bridge inspections this week in Duluth.

Monday to Tuesday

  • Right lane closures will occur on northbound I-35 over Grand Avenue/Highway 23.
  • Westbound lanes of Bong Bridge closing from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Wednesday

  • The entrance ramp from Grand Avenue/Highway 23 to northbound I-35 closing for inspection between 9 a.m. and noon. During this time motorists will be detoured.
  • The entrance ramp from Central Avenue to southbound I-35 and the exit ramp from northbound I-35 to Central Avenue will temporarily close. Motorists will be detoured.
  • Eastbound lanes of Bong Bridge closing from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Thursday

  • Right lane closures will occur on Highway 2 at the St. Louis River.
  • Eastbound lanes of Bong Bridge closing from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Motorists are asked to be patient and use caution in and around work areas.

If needed, closures for maintenance work on the Bong Bridge will be as follows:

  • Monday, August 17: Westbound lanes
  • Tuesday, August 18: Eastbound lanes
  • Wednesday, August 19: Westbound lanes
  • Thursday, August 20: Eastbound lanes
