A new development came out Monday regarding the Twin Ports Interchange project.

MnDOT says the 27th Avenue West bridge south of the Twin Ports Interchange is going to be replaced starting in December.

MnDOT says during the project, the bridge will be closed for crossing, but that the ramps will stay open.

"The idea of getting this started in the fall was to close this bridge in the winter when traffic volumes are lower, and to kind of get ahead of the rest of the construction to try to coordinate better with traffic staging, and to just get what we can done when we can get it done," said MnDOT Project Engineer Cole Maetzold.

During the project, 40th Avenue West will be used as the primary detour.

MnDOT says work on the 27th Avenue West bridge is expected to be complete next June.
