Authorities say the kayak overturned after a gust of wind caught the sail the occupant had recently attached to it.

A nearby citizen with a motor boat was able to reach the occupant who had been in the kayak when it overturned. Fortunately, the occupant was wearing a life jacket.

Authorities say this incident a good reminder of the life saving capabilities a properly worn personal floatation device. They encourage all who are out enjoying water sports in the area to use one while doing so.
