A Duluth woman hosted a free barbecue fundraiser for the homeless on Saturday.

Airlea DeFoe hosted the barbecue at the park near One Roof Community Housing to collect supplies for the homeless.

She provided the food and all she asked was that people bring supplies to help out.

"It's just encouraging people to come out here, and be here for the community. Get together, have a good time, laugh, eat together, and contribute to people in need," said DeFoe.

Prior to the event, DeFoe was able to raise hundreds of dollars on her Venmo for sleeping bags, hygiene products, clothes, and food at the event for people to pick up.

Anything that wasn't picked up on Saturday, DeFoe said she would bring to local encampments later.

She also hopes to hold more events in the future.
