Members of the Air National Guard recently completed their integrated simulation capstone event at the College of St. Scholastica.  The event was the culmination of a week-long session in which the guardsmen trained to medically respond to worst case disaster scenarios.

“They are trained to work with the Army if there’s ever a chemical incident or a bio-incident or bomb,” explained Greg White, assistant professor for the School of Nursing at St. Scholastica, “but they also have a secondary mission, which is just as important, being able to respond to natural disasters or any mass causality incident.”

The simulations saw the guardsmen treat a responsive mannequin for burns and later treating two patients as live actors portrayed distressed family members to add to the intensity and realism.

This was the second of two week long sessions held this year by St. Scholastica for Air National Guardsmen from all across the country.
