CHUM's Annual Backpack Drive still in need of donations

With the recent Minnesota school decision, getting back to class is on the minds of lots of Northlanders as we face this pandemic. But the need for school supplies is running high this school year no matter where learning will be taking place.

And CHUM is asking for your help. In their annual backpack drive, they're hoping to fill 1,400 backpacks with school supplies for students in need. So far they have fewer than 500 and are asking for more donations.

"Regardless if you're doing it at home, or at a neighbor's house or doing it in the classroom, you need the tool and supplies to make yourself successful," said Scott Van Daele, CHUM Distributive Services Director. "CHUM will continue to provide those tools in hopes of bettering the next generation."

The deadline for donations is approaching on August 9th. You are able to donate right on CHUM's website.

You can purchase backpacks as well as the supplies that will fill them there. They hand out the donated backpacks at the end of august to students from kindergarten up to 12th grade.
