Canada's health regulator has approved Pfizer's kid-size COVID-19 shot.

Health Canada authorized the shots for children ages 5 to 11 on Friday. As in the U.S., the doses will be a third of the amount given to teens and adults.

"The clinical trial showed that the immune response in children 5 to 11 years of age was comparable to the immune response in people 16 to 25 years of age. The vaccine was 90.7% effective at preventing COVID-19 in children 5 to 11 years of age and no serious side effects were identified," the agency wrote in a news release.

The agency also says it will remove a testing requirement for Canadians returning from short trips abroad starting on Nov. 30.
