Checking another trail off the bucket list

Making it through Mission Creek

For this week's bike report, Sabrina explored the Mission Creek portion of the Duluth Traverse.

For this week’s bike report, Sabrina Ullman explored part of the Mission Creek trail with Ski Hut employee Krista Holden.

“A couple of fun facts about this trail area. We have a ton of mountain biking trails, and just across the street over there is the DWP trail, which is a gravel trail and goes through the Ely’s Peak Tunnel,” said Holden. “We’re also going to cross the Munger trails, and the actual original highway that came through this area is now a gravel trail that you can bike on.”

According to COGGS, Mission Creek is the longest collection of flow in Duluth, offering long climbs and long descents on smooth trails. The heavily forested area also has views of the St. Louis River.

Mission Creek has a trail length of about 23 miles, and it is the western bookend of the Duluth Traverse.
