An Iron Range home was destroyed when a fire that began in a utility vehicle spread to a home Saturday night.

The owner of the residence on Highway 68 in Sandy Township, near Britt, called 911 at 10:50 p.m. to report that his Polaris ranger side-by-side utility vehicle was on fire, and was parked next to his home.  The fire had spread to the residence by the time authorities arrived.

The home is a total loss.

Two adults and one child who were in the residence were able to get out safely and were not injured.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is investigating the fire.
