Guatemalan Fiesta Raises Money for Common Hope

March 22, 2015 10:35 PM

Duluth students were dishing up everything from black beans, rice, chicken, and ice cream for a Guatemalan Fiesta at the Pilgrim Congregational Church on Sunday.

These meals were part of fundraiser for a group traveling to Antigua, Guatemala this summer. They are working for Common Hope which is a Minnesota non-profit organization that provides medical care, housing and education to kids in Guatemala.

A trip coordinator, Stacey Achterhoff, said they'll pay for their own expenses, but part of their responsibility it to raise $4,000 for kids waiting for sponsors through Common Hope. Achterhoff said they have until June 7th to raise the money, and they're currently about halfway.

If you would like to donate, you can go to the Pilgrim Congregational Church's website and click the donation button.
