Prettner Solon Appointed to Seaway Port Authority Board

Gov. Mark Dayton has appointed former Lt. Gov. Yvonne Prettner Solon to the Seaway Port Authority of Duluth.

Prettner Solon will replace Cal Larson on the Board of Commissioners beginning Feb. 14.  Her term continues until 2021.

The seven-member board meets monthly to set policy, approve contracts, and determine budgets.  Two of the commissioners are appointed by the governor, two by the St. Louis County Board, and three by the Duluth City Council.

Prettner Solon, a former state Senator and Duluth City Council president, was elected as Dayton's running mate in 2010 but chose not to seek re-election in 2014.  Tina Smith took over the Lieutenant Governor's office in January.

Prettner Solon has said she is considering a run for Duluth Mayor in the November election.
