To learn more, we had authors Jayne J. Jones and Katrina D. Dohm on GMN Friday. Jayne and Katrina are both educators looking to help young readers score goals in school - all while having a lot of fun.

The Official Adventures series features Riley and Rosie. They're a lovable pair of referees offering a funny and down-to-earth perspective.

"Drop the Puck, It's Hockey Season" is the first book in their series, and it's being released on Memorial Day. Jayne says it's a sweet tale that can appeal to any Minnesota kid.

Blaine and Cullen are the two main characters in "Drop the Puck, It's Hockey Season." They are brothers on and off the ice, with a deep love for the game and each other. Cullen is the all-star team captain, while Blaine is the team manager. Blaine has Down syndrome, and Jayne says he is truly the "unsung hero" of the team.

Jayne says the book isn't just another children's hockey story. She says it instills life lessons with humor and lovable characters based in real-life situations. The book also has a glossary of new words and terminology for young readers.

So, why hockey? Katrina says both her and Jayne's husbands met through hockey, and that's how she came to know Jayne. The idea for a children's book first came up a few years ago at a game, but it ended up on the back burner for a while.

Fast forward a couple years, and the idea was revisited at another game - this time, it was brought to fruition. Plus, Jayne says they now have another item checked off their bucket lists.

A release party is coming up in Spooner, WI to celebrate the new book. That's on Memorial Day at Piller's Poor Boys. The party starts at 4 p.m. More details are available here.
