Minnesota-based Dairy Queen Corp. has lost a federal lawsuit accusing a Massachusetts company of trademark infringement, for attaching the name “Blizzard” to its bottled water. A U.S. District Judge says Dairy Queen failed to show prove that the other company committed any infringement.
A former staffer for the Minnesota board that licenses police officers is suing the agency, alleging she was the victim of racial discrimination. Starr Suggs spent 28 years with the Peace Officers Standards and Training Board, saying the last straw came in February as a crowd gathered outside to protest the police killing of Amir Locke.
The Minnesota legislature increased the income limit for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, from 165% of the federal poverty level to 200%. That means households of three making $3,600 a month or less are now able to receive food benefits.
