Taylor Holt was excited to join the WDIO Family in October of 2015 — knowing she would get to move from one Great Lake to another!
If you ever see her in a Wolves or Brewers jersey—it is probably covering up a Bulls or White Sox logo! She was born and raised in Chicago, specifically a small town called Beverly on Chicago’s South West side. Like the sitcom, she is in the middle, between an older and younger sister. Growing up included traveling a lot with her family on vacations and spending time riding bikes, taking ballet and jazz dance classes, and playing sports including basketball and soccer. White Sox games with the family were a must!
She got her first experience in journalism writing on her high school newspaper. “When I was younger, my dad would have us read newspaper articles out loud,” Taylor said. “But, I never looked at it as a bad thing. I would try different ways with my voice to read the articles.“
She was also a youth reporter for a web-based news site out of New York. She graduated from DePaul University, majoring in Journalism and minoring in Theatre Arts. While in college she was a Community Service Coordinator as a team leader for Annual Service Days. After graduation she interned at WGN in Chicago with the Morning News Team. She got the chance to do a little bit of everything: from helping produce and book guests to assisting reporters and anchors with their stories. She was excited to get her journalism career started full-time at WDIO. “At times, I think people can forget that it is important to show the truth about what is going on in the world we live in,” Taylor said. “And give people the knowledge to play a role in becoming a solution to the problems we face.”
When taking a break from the news of the day, Taylor enjoys yoga, spending time by the lake, and going to museums.
