Michael Gendron Michael Gendron |

Multi-Media Journalist/Weekend Producer

Michael Gendron joined the WDIO News Team in August 2020 after having served in the United States Navy for seven years. Throughout his career, Michael has worked as an anchor, photojournalist, and behind-the-scenes producer. He’s excited to bring this experience to tell the stories of the people of Duluth.

Michael recently moved to the region with his wife Victoria, who has family in the area, and already feels right at home. He feels privileged and proud to be able to deliver the news to the Northland. It is the stories of everyday people and their experiences that interest him most and those are the stories that he plans to tell here.

Michael grew up in Wilton, New Hampshire, but his time in the military took him all over the world. It was in the Navy where he discovered his love for journalism. He was trained as a multi-media journalist at the Defense Information School in Fort Meade, Maryland. Following that, he served on the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and then later worked with NATO at Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk, Virginia.

Michael has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications (New Media) from Southern New Hampshire University and also has experience in film studies.

During regular summers, Michael and his wife can often be found at the beach, museums, concerts, the trails, or just looking for a good new place to eat and have drink. They are both looking forward to their first Duluth winter and plan to pick up on ice fishing and snowshoeing.
