Alejandra Palacios was thrilled to join WDIO in January of 2018. “I feel so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to grow and learn from an amazing group of people,” she said.

Alejandra knew at a very young age that she wanted to be in journalism. Her parents said she would watch the news and interview family members. She enjoyed broadcast classes in high school and in college. Alejandra graduated from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism.

After graduating, she took a year off to travel, including a trip to Thailand. The highlights were visiting the breathtaking temples and an elephant sanctuary, where she was able to be up-close to her favorite animal!

Alejandra grew up in St. Paul, but was born in Cancun, Mexico, and speaks fluent Spanish. She takes pride in her heritage and enjoys returning for visits and spending time with her big, loving, extended family. She has found another family in Duluth. “Getting the chance to work in a welcoming and positive environment, with a great group of people, has been the best part of starting at WDIO!” she said.

In addition to spending time with family and friends, Alejandra enjoys traveling, photography, exploring new places, and biking and jogging around the beautiful lakes in our region. WDIO’s newest reporter says, “Duluth is new to me, but I already feel so welcomed and at home, and can't wait to explore more!”

You can email Alejandra with story ideas and new places for her to explore at apalacios@wdio.com.
