2019 SME Conference Kicks off in Duluth

Mining leaders from around the region will be attending the 2019 SME Minnesota Conference at the DECC this week in Duluth.

The 3-day educational experience that includes a regionally focused technical session program that attracts hundreds of mining professionals throughout the Midwest.

This year, the 92nd, the theme is Mining in a Modern World. "The Minnesota Iron Range is a great testament to that evolution," shared Julie Marinucci, Mn Section Chair. "When you look at our history of beneficial re-use. We've got a great story, and it continues to evolve. We look forward to the next phase of mining, with non-ferrous development and the gold exploration."

There's also a large exhibit vendor hall, which attracts crowds during the breaks.

An opening reception is planned for Monday evening, and opening remarks are Tuesday morning. "It's going to be a great show, and we're looking forward to the rest of the week," added Marinucci.
