The park says it had 810,884 visits during June 2018, which is second only to June 2016.  May had also been the second-busiest on record.

Despite an admission fee increase and the end of a joint pass with nearby Grand Teton National Park, the number of visits so far this year is up 2.5 percent from the same period last year and 27 percent higher than the same period in 2014.

Park officials said the continued high level of visitation underscores the importance of planning a visit ahead of time.  Visitors should anticipate limited parking at popular spots, delays caused by road construction or wildlife near the road, campgrounds that fill up before lunchtime, and overloaded cell phone networks.

People can avoid the crowds by visiting popular spots before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.
