The city says the truck got through a barrier that the utilities department opened to access a water tank in the area.

About 500 feet of trail was damaged. Kate Van Daele with the city said the vehicle may have gotten stuck, and another truck might have had to go in to tow it.

There is now a barrier in place to block the trail once E Skyline Parkway is open for the season.

The Parks Department is working with the Duluth Police Department on costs associated with repairing the trail.
