The veterinarian team is a key part of the John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon. At each of the six checkpoints along the 295-mile race, vets look over the dogs to make sure they are hydrated, eating well and haven't injured a joint.
The John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon is the longest sled dog race in the lower 48 states and the Beargrease is a qualifier for the Iditarod in Alaska. Come watch the start, and be there at the finish - with WDIO News coverage.
Some big names are registered for the 2020 John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon, including the youngest ever musher to win the Iditarod, Dallas Seavey. Seavey will be joined by fellow Alaskan Ryan Redington, as well as the 2019 champion Blake Freking and runner-up Jennifer Freking.
