Chief Nursing Officer Cindy Kent told Eyewitness News it's about realigning the talents of their LPN staff with patient care needs.

"Because we have to be mindful of the level of care to our patients and adjust our patient care decisions, we made a decision, we recognize it's stressful and difficult, we are transitioning work for our LPN colleagues to other positions caring for patients at Essentia," Kent said.

Kent says they value the care which the hospital LPN staff gives to patients in their current positions, as well as the years of service they have dedicated to Essentia Health. But says this decision is needed to continue to adjust to meet ever-changing patient care demands.

Kent says, "We are committed to our talented colleagues and value their input as we move forward. We are working with them to transition their skills to other positions caring for patients at Essentia."

Kent said they have other positions available for all the affected LPN's should they choose to move into other potential roles with the hospital.
