Volunteers with Young Athletes Foundation get Active with GMN

Volunteers with the Young Athletes Foundation woke up early Tuesday to take calls for donations during Good Morning Northland.

While the foundation is a part of Grandma's Marathon, it isn't just about the act of running.

"The benefits aren't only the physical benefits of running. It also includes the emotional benefits, the mental benefits," says Mandi Peterson.

Peterson is the Marketing and Public Relations Director for Grandma's Marathon. She says these added benefits could include boosting confidence, increasing self esteem, and providing positive events that youth in the area can take part in.

"We've had a lot of families grow up running these events, " she says.
