Christmas has come and gone and residents will soon be getting rid of their holiday tree. The Western Lake Superior Sanitary District is hoping you'll drop by one of their "treecycling" locations to throw it away. The company said the following in a release:

"Collected trees will be beneficially re-used as fuel, to line paths, or for other purposes, while recovering resources and saving landfill space."

The following are 24-hour drop-off locations:

  • Chester Bowl: The parking lot by the playground
  • City of Duluth West Toohouse (on Commonwealth Avenue)
  • Duluth Heights Community Club: The parking lot across the street
  • Lester Park: The parking lot by the playground
  • Rose Garden: parking lot
  • Woodland Community Club: The lower parking lot off Woodland Avenue

They'll be open through January 10. There are also two sites in Carlton County (SAPPI Fine Paper at the gatehouse entrance and the Moose Lake Compost Site) that will be open through January 14.
