A beloved, family classic is taking the NorShor Theatre stage in December.  It's "The Wizard of Oz" and the actress playing Dorothy stopped by Good Morning Northland.

"It's so much fun and so exciting," Meghan Jarecki said.  "Our production happens to be almost word for word of what the movie is, which you don't find often for 'The Wizard of Oz.'"

Jarecki said the director did an amazing spin on it.

"People who know and love the classic will enjoy it, people who have never seen it will enjoy it," Jarecki said.

She said she's even finding new things about it herself.  She said she always wanted to be Dorothy growing up.

"It's been a new and fun challenge every single day," Jarecki said.  "I do a couple nods to Judy, but some of my own things as well."

Jarecki said it can be overwhelminig playing a show that everyone knows and you have an obligation to do it justice, but make it fresh.

"The last time I performed with the Playhouse it was on the Depot stage," Jarecki said.  "Getting to step on NorShor stage for the first time and getting to sing Somewhere Over the Rainbow was surreal."

The show takes the stage on December 5 and runs through December 22.  They have "Brunch and a Show" on December 15th.  You can get tickets here.
