"The launch will be in a couple months " Daniel Welsand says about branching out to Ely.

Welsand is the transportation coordinator for the program. In addition to the Iron Range, he also coordinates with drivers in the Twin Ports.

There is also a need for drivers to bring veterans on the range to the Minneapolis Veteran Affairs office and back.

"We pick up in Hibbing, Virginia, then we head down..." Welsand says.

Scheduling for volunteers is completely flexible. The program will work with people to find a convenient time that works.

"The number one roadblock for veterans is transportation for their appointments," Welsand explains.
