Schlichting said the book starts with someone going back in their life and thinking about when they were a senior in high school 50 years ago.

"They're starting to think about this person and that person and then what also happens is the death of a classmate," Schlichting said.  "Three friends come together for the funeral and the parent and the family of another girlfriend that was abducted during the senior prom, the body has never been found, the person has never been found."

She said this part of the story was inspired by the Jacob Wetterling case.

"When that happened, it just rocked Minnesota," she said.

Many other parts were inspired by people in her own life and friends she lost touch with.

Growing up in Minnesota and living in Bemidji impacted her stories.

"Here I am and family gets together and I'm not included, because of the distance," she said.  "You just wonder about them"

Another part of the story is about one character who was engaged to someone who went to Vietnam, Schlichting said.

"When he returned, he broke it off," she said.  "He just felt different and this person didn't know what the deal was. Was she a casualty of the war."

The book signing is Saturday, August 24 from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Bookstore at Fitger's.
