Tech Bytes: TV Security, New Emojis

In today's Tech Bytes, a new warning that your smart TV could easily be hacked. Consumer reports magazine found smart TV's made by Samsung and Roku failed a basic security test, making it easy for hackers to take control, change channels and even raise the volume. Both brands say they take security seriously.

An Apple Watch may be able to detect diabetes. Researchers say the watches pick up the disease with their heart rate sensors. The study looked at people already diagnosed with the condition. The sensors are 85% accurate.

A senator can take credit for helping create a new emoji. Maine senator Angus King successfully lobbied for a lobster emoji. It's one of 157 new emojis this year. The new list also includes redheads, a lacrosse stick, a skateboard and mosquitoes.
