In today's Tech Bytes, Santa's lump of coal for Apple. Analysts are lowering expectations for iPhone X shipments in the first quarter of next year. They're blaming the high price and a lack of interesting innovations. Instead, customers are choosing cheaper iPhones.

The "X" can do things you may not realize, like have different vibrations for different callers. That way you'll know who's calling when the ringtone is off without looking at the phone. Also, if you have photos on your phone that are sensitive, there's a way to keep them hidden from casual viewers.

Amazon wants to remind new users that its "Echo" is capable of more than 25,000 skills. Among them: reading your child a story, with help from the "bedtime web" site. It can also help you with that new diet, using a skill called "Talk me down." Of course, "Echo" can also order a pizza.
