An official with Duluth Energy Systems says it appears a failure from a steam line near Fon-du-Luth Casino caused a plume of steam around East Superior Street Wednesday morning.

It happened just before 7 a.m. The company said, "it appears an expansion joint from a steam line failed," which led to the large amount of steam. 

No one was injured. Officials with the company are investigating the incident.

Duluth Energy Systems is a city-owned steam plant that provides heat to buildings around the downtown area.
