A favorite holiday tradition put on by the Swedish Cultural Society is coming up on Saturday, December 14.  The Sankta Lucia celebration will be held at the Holiday Inn in Duluth.

This year's Santa Lucia is Emma Bursch and she dressed in the classic outfit Santa Lucia wears.

"Santa Lucia represents the Italian saint coming to Sweden and just being the light in the darkness and saving them from famine," Bursch said.

She said it means a lot to be this year's Santa Lucia.

"I've been in this since I was two years old, I've been participating for 13 or 14 years so it means so much to me to be Lucia this year and I'm super excited," Bursch said.

The event will Swedish music, food, and more.  Bursch said you don't need to be Swedish to attend.

Bursch said they will sing and pass out rolls during the festival.

"There's more and more people coming every year and it's just fun to see everyone grow up," Bursch said.

Tickets are $22 for adults and $12 for children ages 5 to 10.  They are limited and you can get them by calling 218-727-4416 by December 9.

The Sankta Lucia Celebration is on Saturday, December 14 at 9 a.m. at the Holiday Inn in Duluth.
