A special program all about love is going to be presented by the Opera Studio at UMD.  It's called "Love Scenes" and it's only showing on November 8.

The show has seven different scenes from different operas that will be performed by voice students according to Alice Pierce, the instructor.

There will also be guest directors including a director who sang with the Lyric Opera of the North and a faculty member.

"Our opera scenes are concentrated on various themes of love, unrequited love, brotherly love, romantic love," Pierce said.  "It should be a reallly wonderful and interesting evening."

Pierce said they thought about what students they have, what they'd be ready for, and what would be interesting to the audience, when they chose what scenes they wanted to do.

"The students are in good shape, they're really excited, they're doing a great job, and they're having such a wonderful time collaborating with many faculty members," Pierce said.

Pierce said she loves to see the progress of the students and how they develop their acting skills.

"No performance, no rehearsal is ever quite the same, you have to be ready for anyone and you have to go for it," Pierce said.

Pierce said they are offering free tickets to high school students who bring their high school ID.

The Opera Studio "Love Scenes" is Friday night, November 8 at 7:30 p.m. at Weber Music Hall.  You can get tickets here.
