New Improv Group Bringing Laughs to Northland

Updated: May 31, 2019 09:47 AM

The Maritime Improv Crew is looking to entertain Northland folks this weekend. Their show "Come get Dinghy with us" is happening Saturday, June 1.

The crew performs long form improv. Group member Ted Carlson Webster explained everything they perform is based on audience suggestion and done on the spot.

"We rehearse how to put on the show based on those suggestions, but we dont' have anything planned other than that," he said.

Group member Sharon Obst says they will ask audience members to perform with them for parts of the show, too.

This group is fairly new, but Webster says they've done team bonding to get to know each other. He pointed out getting to know each others body language was key as that's largely how communication is done on stage.

"Improvisational theater is about developing a trust relationship with your group," Obst says. "We've worked really hard to do that."

The show begins at 7 p.m. at the Spirit of the North Theater at Fitger's Complex. Click here to buy tickets. They can also be bought at the door.

For those who can't make it, they perform shows during the first weekend of every month. Click here to find out more.
