11th Annual 'More Cowbell' Happening Thursday

Created: January 15, 2020 11:06 AM

Get your cowbells ready for the 11th annual More Cowbell fundraiser supporting the Northern Lights Foundation.  The money raised is given to local families with children facing life-threatening illnesses.

"It's turned out to be a great event," Dr. Ken Larson, the founder and president for the foundation, said.  "It started 11 years ago."

Larson said someone suggested the idea to them and it's grown into one of the best fundraiser the foundation has each year.

"People love it," Larson said.  "The band, Lake City Smoking Section, they play and they come up with the songs the groups are performing and some of the groups choreograph their skits."

This year there will be multiple different groups getting on stage to perform including, Visit Duluth, Vikre Distillery, Ignite Studio, Essentia Health, and more.

"You're going to see some pretty interesting things," Larson said. "Through this event and other events throughout the year, we raise money for families who have child facing a life-threatening illness."

The funds can be used for whatever the family needs at the time.

"What they should be worrying about the time is getting their child better," Larson said.

More Cowbell is on Thursday, January 16 from 5 to 10 p.m. at Grandma's Sports Garden.  Click here for more info.
