The Minnesota Mile is off to the races for the 13th year on Friday, September 6.

The one-mile race, put on by Grandma's Marathon, is unique because it is just a loop around the scenic Skyline Parkway.

"It's a really fun event because it's for runners of all abilities," Mandi Peterson with Grandma's Marathon said.  "We see families with young kids out there, all through the ages."

It's also the opportunity for runners to race a course they usually wouldn't be able to run on, Peterson said.

The course was different several years ago.  It used to run back and forth down Superior Street, Peterson said.  This is the third year it will be up at the Enger Tower area.

"It's just a fun change of pace, because like I said, it's something diferent, it's very unique, and it's something runners wouldn't normally get to experience," Peterson said.

There is also a team competition feature if you want to run with your friends, family, or co-workers.

"Your team could be a mixed category, or all female, all male," Peterson said.

Registration is $20 for adults and $10 for youth through Wednesday.  You can still register in person until race day.

There is also a new race Grandma's Marathon is putting on in Superior.  It's October 26 and it's called the North End Nightmare 5K.
