Stage Director Bradley Greenwald and conductor Dirk Meyer stopped by GMN Monday to give a preview.

Greenwald says the opera surrounds two people, Nemorino and Adina. Nemorino has been in love with Adina since they were both kids, but she doesn't feel the same way. He is given a love potion that he believes will make Adina fall for him. Audiences will get to see how that unfolds and if they end up together. Greenwald released a minor spoiler explaining it's a happy ending.

"The music is absolutely gorgeous," he said. "The story is charming and so is this cast."

The songs in the show are in Italian. However, those who don't know the language will still be able to follow along with ease through acting on stage and english supertitles.

Meyer said the cast and crew have been doing 'staging' rehearsals for the last two weeks and are in the process of doing final rehearsals. Shows are Friday, June 14 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, June 16 at 3 p.m. at Marshall Performing Art Center at UMD. Click here to buy tickets.
