Life House Duluth's "Clean Out Your Couch" Happening this Week

Updated: September 09, 2019 04:35 PM

Life House Duluth is once again holding a week long event to raise money in a unique way.   It's called Clean Out Your Couch and it kicked off Monday morning.

Margie Nelson, their community engagement director, said they're encouraging people to look for spare change and bring it to their couch.

"The idea of 'clean out your couches' and find what you can, maybe some coins, maybe some dollars, we'll take everything," Nelson said.  "You can drop it off outside our building."

Life House Duluth works with homeless youth from the ages of 14 to 24.  Nelson said a lot of the youth they work with are homeless, but not homeless in the sense that they live outside, they couch hop and bounce from place to place every night.

"We have comprehensive services, so we have a drop-in center that serves meals and gives basic need supplies," Nelson said.  "We run some housing, we have an emergency shelter for teenagers, we have mental health and wellness services, and education and employment trainings."

The money raised from "Clean Out Your Couch" supports their mission and goals.

The couch will be outside Life House Duluth every morning this week from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.  For more information about Life House Duluth, click here
