Life Coach Pam Solberg-Tapper visited GMN on Friday to give us tips on how

"As a professional, when we remember people's names, it shows respect, it shows that we're interested in them, we care about them and it really enhances the relationship, " she says.

These are four tips that can help with remembering names:

1. Quit telling yourself you are not good at remembering names.

  • Solberg-Tapper says it can become a self-fulfilling prophecy. She says to trust yourself that this is a skill you can master.

2. Focus on the person.

  •  Listen to the other person, too. - "If we really really focus on them and hear their name, we're much more likely to then remember it."

3. Exercise your memory muscle by using repetition.

  •  Do it with tact, but don't overdo it.

4. Create a favorable imprint of the person in your mind.

  • What impresses you about the other person? - What's different about them?
