Life Coach: How to Say No

Created: November 29, 2019 08:34 AM

Life gets busy during the holiday season and it's hard to say no to extra obligations.

Life Coach Pam Solberg-Tapper stopped by Good Morning Northland for tips to say no.

1. Set boundaries.

Solberg-Tapper said sometimes we're asked to do things that are not in our best interest or cause a lot of stress and if you set the right boundaries, it gives you permission to graciously decline and say no.

2.  Offer an alternative.

She said having a back-up if you'd still like to do it, but the timing isn't right, means offering up an alternative.

3.  Defer a response.

Deferring a response, instead of saying yes right away, gives you the opportunity to think about it and check your schedule before you commit to anything.
