Having a career is both daunting and difficult. For many, it's both exciting and terrifying at the same time. Life Coach Pam Solberg-Tapper has some tips that can help you take charge of your career.

"We assume that our boss or someone else wants us to rise in the ranks, but we have to make sure that we do the right things to be able to be ready for that," she says.

1. Play to your strengths

- Create 3 columns: "Love," "Neutral," and "Dislike."

Fill the "Love" column with tasks you enjoy doing and bring you energy. Fill the "Neutral" column with tasks that neither bring or take your energy. Finally, fill the "Dislike" section with activities that take up a good amount of your energy.

2. Be visible

- Having solid relationships with the right people is critical to your success.

3. Provide value

- Demonstrate your expertise so others can see your capabilities.
