As we head continue to ease into the season of spring, the sun starts to come out and everything seems brighter. What better way to celebrate than by brightening up someone's day?

Life coach Pam Solberg-Tapper was back in studio Friday to show us how someone might go about doing that.

She lists two easy steps:

1. What did the person do that you appreciate?

  • Specifically state the action, accomplishment or effort that you appreciate. This could be a co-worker going the extra mile for a task, or fixing a problem.

"When we say specifically what they did, it's much more effective," Solberg-Tapper says.

2. What was the result?

  • Sharing the impact gives the appreciation much more depth.

Solberg-Tapper has this template as one way to use these steps in giving someone appreciation:

Thank you for {what did the person do that you appreciate?}. The result was {impact on you, the team, customer, family, company, etc.}
